Back to TopIf you are a reader of mysteries looking for a new series, check out our list of the first book in almost 500 mystery series!
The library has prepared book lists for various types (genres) of books. Each list includes authors and titles that the library owns. You will find the lists on the shelf endcaps in the adult fiction section. Help yourself!
Do you enjoy doing your own research? The library has a number of helpful "genre" specific guide books in the Reference section. Although these books don't check out, you are welcome to use them in the library. The guide books include thrillers, romance, mysteries, detective and crime fiction, young adult fiction, general fiction, horror, sequels and science fiction, as well as non-fiction. Stop by the Reference Desk to get started.
Don't forget to check out the displays near the Check-Out Desk. The displays often feature books and materials related to a particular theme. These materials are all available for checkout.

Looking for a book club? Consider joining one of the library's book clubs. Click here for more information.
Or start your own book club using the library's book club kits. Each kit contains 6 to 24 copies of a book and a set of discussion questions. One member of a club can check out the kit, distribute books to the club members, collect the books after discussion, and return the kit to the library. This is an easy way for a book club to find enough copies of a book for everyone in the club. The kits check out for six weeks. Click here to see a list of the titles and here for a list of the discussion questions. Additional titles will be added if the kits are popular. If you have questions about the kits, would like help starting a book club, or would like to suggest a title to be added, please contact the Reference Department at reference@galesburglibrary.org or 309-343-6118.
