Harry Potter exhibit. The Galesburg Public Library has been chosen as one of twelve libraries in the United States to host Harry Potter’s World: Renaissance Science, Magic, and Medicine between Sept. 2009 and Feb. 2011. Using materials from the National Library of Medicine's History of Medicine collections, the small format traveling exhibit explores Harry Potter’s world, its roots in Renaissance science, and the ethical questions that affected not only the wizards in J.K. Rowling’s books but also historical thinkers. The Galesburg Public Library will host the exhibit and related programs in June 2010. Additional information will be available next year.

In the meantime, the Galesburg Public Library is hosting a number of Harry Potter programs in June and July. Click here for more information.

Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. The Harry Potter series was “translated” into American English for the U.S. audience. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in the United Kingdom. At 6:30 pm each Wednesday during the eight weeks of the library’s summer reading program, come participate in a group listen to the British audio version of the first book, read by Stephen Fry. The first hour was played June 10, and the last will be played on July 29. You are welcome to bring needlework or another project to do while listening. Share your love of Harry with other fans in a new experience for most of us!
